Please read this entire message before using the Updater.
The Finale 3.0.3 Updater will allow you to update Finale 3.0 or Finale 3.0.1a to Finale version 3.0.3 for Macintosh. This version is available at no charge to original purchasers of Finale 3.0 or 3.0.1a for Macintosh.
Finale 3.0.3 is a maintenance update that addresses potential problems in the following areas:
• Tiling pages
• Speedy Note Entry (MIDI dropout)
• File corruption after power down or crash
• Smart Shape duplication in Mass Mover
• Score Expression duplication in Mass Mover
• Smart Shape corruption
DISABLING VIRUS PROTECTION SOFTWARE
Before you run the Updater, remove or disable any virus protection software you are using. We've taken extensive precautions to ensure that your copy of Finale is virus-free; as long as you reinstall the virus software after you've updated to Finale 3.0.3, you should have no problems.
To disable the virus protection software, move it out of your System Folder into another folder temporarily and then Restart your Macintosh. After using the Finale 3.0.3 Updater, make sure that you re-enable the virus protection: drag it from its temporary location back into your System Folder and Restart your Macintosh.
UPDATING TO FINALE 3.0.3
Before you update your Finale program, you should first confirm which version of Finale is installed on your system. The updater ONLY works on version 3.0 and 3.0.1a.
• Locate and select the Finale program on your hard disk.
• Choose Get Info from the File menu. Among other information in the Get Info dialog box, you'll see the Version number. The version should display 3.0 or 3.0.1a. If not, you MUST re-install Finale from the original disks.
Now that you've confirmed that Finale version 3.0 or 3.0.1a is installed on your hard disk, you're ready to run the Finale 3.0.3 Updater.
• Double-click on the Finale 3.0.3 Updater. A dialog box appears asking you to select the file to update.
• Select the Finale program version 3.0 or 3.0.1a.
• Once you have selected the appropriate version, click "Update". A new version, Finale 3.0.3 for Macintosh, will be created and installed on your hard drive. Your original version of Finale will remain intact as well. After you run Finale 3.0.3, you should throw away the older version of Finale.
IMPORTANT: If you receive an error message when running the updater, or do not have either of these versions installed on your drive:
• Locate your original Finale 3.0 or Finale 3.0.1a Install disks
• Re-install the application (you do not need to install any other items)
• Follow the previous steps to update the newly installed Finale to version 3.0.3
